Thanks. I didn't want to but I'm comitted now, and nearly done, it would be a shame to stop now. I think I should be able to hold my estimation.
I just need to check Iris's (the new ice girl) dialogues, then playtest. I already did a bit before the DLCs dropped, I don't know how long it will take me to test all the new stuff.
I'll probably have to grab the latest update too, I'm on v2.1 right now.

It will still be MTL, although I'm doing my best to polish it as much as I can (hence why it's taking time).
I'll probably release everything I've done, in case someone else wants to use it to make a better translation, or to use on later versions.

I'm now on v2.3 and I'm play testing.
All openings and endings have been tested. The waiting area and the various mini-games too.
I also did a good part of the character specific lines/interactions. This will probably be the most time consuming task of what I have left to test.
But I'm very happy with the result, so far, it was worth it.
I don't know for how much longer I have. If I'm too busy, I'll try to finish it for this week end, at least.

Ah, my mistake. But even polished MTL is way better than just regular MTL :p

Glad to hear that things are progressing well and that you're on v2.3. Do you have plans to do the DLC characters as well, or just the base characters?

Everything is in, including the DLC characters. This is what slowed me down so much. The number of character interactions increased by a good 50%. There must be around ~800 character dialogues now. I didn't expect the DLC to release this month to be fair.

On another note, I'm now on v2.4, so the new stuff is also translated.
What remains is the following:
- Half the dialogues to test in-game. I found a lot of tiny mistakes and a few with subpar quality, so it's good thing I'm doing a second pass on these. Still, it's so time consuming. :(
- Board Map NPCs. This one shouldn't take long.
- Summoning square dialogues. Not sure how I'll test that one yet, maybe I'll quickly hack in a way to force the summon square to trigger on all of them.
- The game over ending.
- Play a few more games to ensure I haven't missed anything.

Still, my ETA was probably too optimistic. I have another heatwave starting tomorrow too, right during the weekend too, it will probably slow me down. Don't worry if I go radio silent for a bit, I'll probably be busy getting it finished (I hope the game stops being updated in the meantime).
EDIT: To be clear, I still hope to finish it next week.

PS: I collected a few old translated sets of square. I'll probably pack them all in so people can pick the one they prefer.
But I also made a new one, which comes in two varieties: Black and Colored icons.

It's done... For version 2.4 (from August 5th 2024) and the three DLC, at least.
What I dreaded happened, version 2.5 came out today. I'll see if I can update during the weekend.
But I wanted to get it out today, as I'm really busy starting tomorrow.

Please make sure you are on the right version and not on 1.2.4.something.

Latest game version supported: ver2.4 and ver2.6

Changelog / Found in the folder:
- 1.2: The patch for ver2.4 of the game.
- 1.3: The patch updated for ver2.6 of the game.
- 1.4: The same patch as 1.3 for ver2.6 with an experimental bugfix for a possible crash added in ver2.5 and later of the game.
- 1.5: The same patch as 1.4 for ver2.6 with a correction for the name of the money (Taran -> Talan, to be consistent with the succubus pedller game).

I got things to say:
  1. Despite my efforts, it remains a MTL, keep it in mind.
  2. If you notice untranslated lines, typos, glaring grammar mistakes, weird lines, and so on... Don't hesitate to report it, it'll be an easy fix. Provide a screenshot or the exact line, to make it easier. I'll make sure to pass by in this thread, once in a while.
  3. If I ever update the patch, the latest files will always be in this mega folder, even if I forget to post here.
  4. The game still has bugs and crashes, although rare. I played quite a bit and I don't think there should be any caused by the patch. But if you encounter one which seems to be caused by this patch, please report so, either by describing the steps to trigger it, or with a save file before the crash point. Either way, save often, ideally in two different save files.
  5. If you have custom characters/maps, see the Mod related spoiler below.
  6. If you purchased the game but not the DLC characters, delete the chara11 to 13 folders in sugorokuDatas/chara, after patching the game.
  7. The game is technically a sequel to many other games. The exact chronology, if I didn't forget anything, is VoN 1, VoN 2, Sugoroku 1, Sugoroku After vol.1 to 3 (voice works), Absolute Monster Killer and the Casino Succubus game (both free games on the ci-en), Succubus merchants, Sugoroku 2 (You are here), and Sugoroku After vol.4 and 5 (voice works). For consistency sake, I mostly stuck to Sugoroku 1 translation for the name of characters and items, and from what I remembered from Village of Nightmare and Succubus merchants. In particular, I didn't have time to replay the later, so there might be inconsistencies with the character names from that particular game. Don't hesitate to report any you might notice.
  8. Finally, if you need help with how to install anything included in the patch, please check the included readme files, it should have all the infos you need.

Not sure if something is wrong with my installation, I seem to be getting a number of errors regarding missing files and such. This seems to be a hard blocker though. I just tried using the Ice Mage's ice ball skill 1723660011940.png
Edit: it looks like I was playing with version 1.2.4.2 when I got this error, not sure how to download an older version like 1.2.4

Edit2: I think that this stems from me using MTool to play the game originally, but I can't find the original zip file that I got version 1.2.4.2 from :(

Considering you are playing as Iris, I think you're on a version 2.X-something.
You can try something: In the file I shared, go into the tools folder, then untouched_files. Copy everything inside. Paste the content in your game folder and overwrite when asked (they are original 2.4 untranslated files). Then, reapply the patch (patch folder, copy the content, paste in game folder...).
If you're still getting this kind of error, then your base version is probably wrong or somehow corrupted, redownload the game and DLCs.

EDIT: While I'm around, I already pushed a minor update to the patch.
I fixed a tiny mistake I stumbled upon, and I changed the Magician's male name from Jean to John. I had this change planned and I forgot to apply it. The reasoning being, like for Lewis, to differenciate it a bit more from his Succubus name Jeanne, and because John is supposed to be the english form of the french name Jean.
I don't think I'll operate further name changes, even if I don't really like the Dancer's one in particular.

Found a working copy, discovered a translation issue but accidentally went past it. It was the dialogue line just before this one, it had a bunch of japanese characters 1723674736965.png

Started playing, everything was fine then the screen turned black and was forced to restart the game.

Afterwards every time I start the game I get this error message, SYNTAC ERROR, Unexpecxted token (?) in JSON at position 0.

Even tried a reinstall same error.

The line you're referring to isn't untranslated. it's just anna's robot speach from breaking up. The original used random garbage character, I kept most of it intact. Maybe I should tweak it a bit.

I can't reproduce the error, are you on version 2.4?
From what I'm seeing on the web, it seems to be some sort of internal error of RPG Maker.
Just a guess from what you're describing, but maybe your save file got corrupted in some way, try to delete or move away you save folder to another location, to see if the game can boot fine from a fresh start.

EDIT:
I published another small revision.
I edited the line mentionned above with symbols instead of the previously used chinese characters.
I also revised the game over ending, which I didn't like, as mentionned in my original post.
I didn't have time to look into the v2.5 yet.

I am on version 1.2.4.2, that is the correct version right? Or am i literally supposed to be on version 2.4.something instead?

Anyway, tried the save thing didn't work, i had little hope of that working considering a complete reinstall didn't fix it despite it working previously with your translation.

Yes, 2.4 (which cames out on the 2024/08/05) and soon 2.5 once I get the chance to update it. The v1.2.4.2 is a few years old. The 2.0 came out recently along with the DLCs.
For anyone doubting which version you have, the version 2.0 and above should show their version number in the window name before applying the patch or during the startup:

PS: I checked around on the "usual websites" and I could find the v2.4 being shared, sometimes labeled as ver24.08.05. No signs of 2.5 yet but it came out recently.
It makes me wonder if I should keep the patch for the most readily available version or on the latest version, though.

Stuff came up so making a patch for 2.5 will wait. Someone told me the patch works fine on it, if you somehow feels adventurous (Alternatively, the script is included to rebuild a patch, if needed, the new strings won't just be translated, if there is any).

I'm not sure about the rules on that regard, so I'll only say to look where you're sharing anime.
Feel free to bug them to update the copy they share to the version 2.5 too.

EDIT: It seems the game got updated again, latest version is now 2.5.1, a bug introduced in 2.5 has been fixed. So, no rush, I supppose.

Played through a couple times now and I can confirm that it seems to work fine on 2.5. Haven't had any crashes or missing translations.

Ok, I got the game and applied the patch, gonna try playing it on PC later on but on Joiplay I get this error
